HAMMADA
THE FILM
Through the eyes of Dadah, a Sahrawi child in the Dakhla refugee camp, the film observes everyday life in the Algerian desert: school, games, dunes and the long conversations of adults. Cinema opens a window onto worlds beyond the camp.
THE MUSIC
This was my first immersion in a musical culture other than my own. At the premiere, the film’s translator asked which Sahrawi band had provided the music. I still treasure that moment: it showed how convincingly I had entered that musical world. This ability to change musical language is central to my eclectic approach to cinema.
