CASA BATLLÓ: FACADE SOFT SHOW

Casa Batlló is renowned for gifting Barcelona a holiday light-and-music spectacle on its façade each year. In 2024 we tested a new approach: instead of a three-minute show every half hour, we created a continuous, 30-minute original score to accompany a living, ambient light program throughout the evening.
The outcome was promising. Audiences flowed more evenly, stayed longer, and naturally organized themselves without creating bottlenecks in front of the building. This steady cadence improved street cohabitation and overall visitor experience.
Musically, I curated, adapted, and composed a continuous tapestry drawing on original themes from Casa Batlló’s soundtrack history, with a special homage to “A niht 100 years ago” by Jordi Longán, a composer I hold in great esteem and with whom I had the pleasure of collaborating on the grand façade show in 2023. Rounding out the team, Toni Llobet served as lighting designer. Arguably, the professional who knows Casa Batlló best from a light design perspective, inside and out. His astonishing command of colour, calibrated to Gaudí’s original palette, made the façade feel both authentic and newly alive.
Below is the full video, one we also used at home as a visual and musical backdrop during our family Christmas meals.
Enjoy!
