Dr. Archibald, Master of Time is a VR dark ride by Franke Fahrzeugbau, which premiered in 2017 at the Hamburger Dom. It later toured major fairs such as Winter Wonderland in London and is known as the world’s largest transportable VR dark ride, awarded for both its immersive experience and technical innovation.

What began as a simple commission for façade music soon expanded into a pre-show score, the façade show, the complete VR soundtrack implemented in FMOD with Unreal, plus programming the pre-show room and animatronics with a WEIGL system, and co-designing façade lighting and effects with Dani Bartomeu.

This was my first “steampunk symphonic” score and also my introduction to technologies like DMX. It became the starting point for later façade and light-music projects in my career.

Composing for Patrick Greier’s Dr. Archibald was a true pleasure. His meticulous care in choosing music and attention to sound quality made it especially rewarding to tailor a soundtrack for his vision, while the insights of Heiko Kraft added the final touch—the icing on the cake.
