Bringing a Global Trend Brand to Life

Pop Mart is a leading Chinese company in designer toys and character IPs, known for beloved figures such as Molly, Hirono, Skullpanda, and Labubu. In Beijing’s Chaoyang Park, Pop Mart opened Pop Land—their first large-scale entertainment venue, halfway between a theme park and a retail destination, where visitors immerse themselves in the brand’s creative universe.

During the pandemic, when opportunities were scarce, working on Pop Land was both a challenge and a gift. As part of the Entertainment Development creative team, we contributed to the early concept development for the park and later continued collaborating as the project grew and evolved. It was a rare chance to help shape a pioneering space that blends retail, storytelling, and themed entertainment.

Among the initiatives, I enjoyed so much with a comprehensive user-experience consultancy in terms of lighting, audio, and show control—for both guests and operators. This meant tracing every square meter of the park to design a holistic approach where technical systems seamlessly supported the narrative and character-driven experiences with the best guest experience possible.

And if you visit my studio, you’ll understand why I keep a collection of Hirono figures and why, when it gets cold, I wear my Labubu blanket. (NO JOKE)
